The name Vision was inspired by Paralympian Lex Gillette’s mantra, “No Need for Sight When You Have a Vision,” a phrase inscribed in Braille on the case of his custom Nike competition eyewear. Beyond sight itself, the words suggest vision as a sense of direction — the confidence to know where you want to go and move towards it.

Built around this idea, Vision is a wearable device designed to support visually impaired runners in completing marathons more independently. Through tactile feedback, it translates guidance into physical cues, reducing reliance on external assistance while supporting safer movement and greater autonomy. The project explores how inclusive technology can lower the barriers to participation in sport and allow runners to approach the starting line on their own terms.
